when is it a right time for a second shooter?

Let's face it, every love story is unique—and so is every wedding day. While some moments unfold slowly and intimately, others move fast with emotion, energy, and endless details. That’s where a second shooter can make all the difference. Whether you're planning a large celebration or simply want more angles and memories captured, here's how to know when adding a second photographer is the right move for your day.

There are so many instances I miss important things because I can not be in two places at once - I WISH I COULD!

Sometimes I am not able to capture certain details because the timeline is so full or I just can not be there.

(Example - photographing cocktail hour)

Almost any photo you see where they have a cocktail hour photographed, they had a second shooter. The only time it would be different is if you wanted to join cocktail (and if you did) we would need to have knocked all the pictures out before hand.

A second shooter is super helpful when :

✿ You're covering a big wedding or event – anything with 100+ guests usually benefits from extra coverage.

✿ You want both partners’ getting ready moments – you can’t be in two places at once!

✿ You want multiple angles during key moments – like ceremony, first look, or first dance.

✿ You need help with logistics – second shooters can grab details, candids, or assist with gear.

✿ You want a more relaxed timeline – they can cover cocktail hour while you do portraits, for example.

✿ You’re building out albums – more variety = richer storytelling.

When I am taking family photos, the second is able to capture other things (like cocktail hour)

Second Shooter Rate

$50 an hour (I suggest 4-6 hours)
